Louis Whitehead (He/Him) has been an SDUIH board member for four years, serving on the executive committee as Chairperson for the last three years. Louis is a small business owner, musician, and author. He holds a master’s degree in Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism .Louis has formerly contributed to the “Argus Leader,” “Sioux Falls Business Journal,” “Brookings Register,” and “National Native News” among other outlets, and was a former director of the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Radio Service. He has also authored three books. Louis has served as the vice-president of the Sports Car Club of Siouxland and as president of the Garden Square Homeowners Association. Currently he also serves on the American Indian Cancer Foundation Leadership Advisory Council.
Louis continues to volunteer for cultural/ceremonial programs at SDUIH.
