Louis Whitehead (He/Him) has been an SDUIH board member for four years, serving on the executive committee as Chairperson for the last three years. Louis is a small business owner, musician, and author. He holds a master’s degree in Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism .Louis has formerly contributed to the “Argus Leader,” “Sioux Falls Business Journal,” “Brookings Register,” and “National Native News” among other outlets, and was a former director of the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Radio Service. He has also authored three books. Louis has served as the vice-president of the Sports Car Club of Siouxland and as president of the Garden Square Homeowners Association. Currently he also serves on the American Indian Cancer Foundation Leadership Advisory Council.

Louis continues to volunteer for cultural/ceremonial programs at SDUIH.

Tanya Grassel-Krietlow (She/Her) has served on the SDUIH board of directors for three years and as vice-chairperson for the last two years. Tanya is a project manager at The South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault, providing oversight and management of local, state, and federal grants. She has prior experience as a human = resources director, community development manager, and in executive leadership. Tanya is a current member of the Diversity Committee for Southeastern Technical College, a board member for the South Dakota Humanities Council, a member of the Pierre Area Rotary Club, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in Hughes and Stanley Counties.

Tanya is a long-time patient and past employee of SDUIH.

Natalie Anderson (She/Her) is the newest member to the SDUIH board of directors, joining in September 2024. Natalie brings a wealth of knowledge in finance and leadership. She is the owner/operator of Anderson Accounting, currently in its third decade of operation, and is the president/CEO of Lower Brule Community College. Previously, Natalie was the budget and finance director for the South Dakota Department of Health. She serves on boards for the Pierre Indian Learning Center, Oaye Lut a Okolakiciye, and Kul Wicasa Wosapi. Natalie holds a master’s degree of business administration in management and a bachelor’s degree in business and finance.

Lynn Bartholow, BA, CCRC, (She/Her) has served on the board for three years. Lynn is a driven leader with deep expertise in healthcare, clinical research, grant management, health equity, and clinical research leadership. She is a trusted mentor who combines strategic mindset with razor-sharp detail focus resulting in on-time, within-budget, superior-quality programs. Lynn is the CEO of Circle Clinical Research, whose mission is to advance health equity through clinical research. She also teaches at USD and is the executive director of research compliance at Avera Health. Previously, Lynn has worked at Sanford, Monument Health, and Breakthrough T1D. She currently serves on the boards for Pathways to Inclusive and Equitable Workplaces, Move to Heal SD, and the Upper Midwest Chapter of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. She volunteers at EmBe as a mentor for the Women’s Leadership Program and is a foster parent. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology.

Chris Skunk (He/Him) joined the SDUIH board in Fall 2023. Chris currently attends law school at the University of South Dakota. He previously served as a county commissioner for Lyman County and was a tribal council member for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. In addition, Chris serves as the vice-president for the South Dakota Native Tourism Alliance, treasurer for the Lower Brule Fair Committee, executive secretary for the Lower Brule Commission on Gaming, and as a trustee for the Dakota Indian Foundation.

Chris has a master’s degree in public administration, and a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in business administration.

Raleigh E. Hansman, Esq. (She/Her) has been a member of the SDUIH board since the spring of 2023.She is a partner at Meierhenry Sargent LLP, where she has practiced law for the past 12 years. In 2021she was awarded South Dakota Young Lawyer of the Year and the South Dakota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Outstanding Lawyer Award. Raleigh has served on multiple boards including the board of governors for the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association and as treasurer for the Second Circuit Bar Association.

Jordan Catlett, MSW, CSW (They/Them) has been a member of the SDUIH board since the spring of2023. Jordan is currently the director of field education for the Master’s of Social Work program at the University of South Dakota. They have prior experience providing oversight and management of local, state, and federal grants, and have completed the Department of Justice grants financial management training. Jordan has served as vice president for The Transformation Project board of directors, and was chair of a committee. They have been an advisory member for multiple research projects focused on domestic and sexual violence prevention. Jordan has also contributed to projects focused on Two Spirit and Native LGBTQIA+ youth family acceptance.
