Inipi sweat purification ceremony is open to all Indigenous community members seeking spiritual connection. During inipi, we will be mindful of those in attendance, taking care that all of our relatives feel safe. Please do not attend if you are on your moon time.

  • Community Inipi is open to men, women, children, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse community members seeking spiritual connection.
  • Women’s Inipi is open to all women, as well as Two-Spirit and non-binary community members who align with women’s spiritual teachings.

Red Road Approach Recovery Groups o er a cognitive and experimental curriculum on Native American/Indigenous philosophies, activating the spirit for individuals, families, and communities. Participants will be guided through lessons on the impacts of of alcohol and drugs on the mind, body, and spirit. This curriculum is a 10-week adult program that meets on a weekly basis. This group is offered at various times of the year. Sign-up is required.

Red Road Talking Circle: 

In support of our relatives’ ongoing healing journeys following the Red Road program, SDUIH is offering a weekly Talking Circle for Red Road participants or anyone wanting a safe space to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Talking Circles are rooted in Native American traditions and offer a place for individuals to connect with themselves and others through dialogue and storytelling. The group is free to join and open to all genders. You do not need to have completed the Red Road program to attend.

Join us for coffee, laughter, and the art of traditional craft-making! Delve into the rich heritage of Native American culture through the practices of sewing and beading both of which hold significant cultural and spiritual significance. Learn from the experts while sharing in the joy of crafting and connection. All materials are provided. This group is offered weekly and is open to all.

Join us for a safe space for those seeking support, healing, and a time to connect with others in the community. Members will be guided through topics such as cultural values, language, and a continued self-healing. All are welcome, as this group will be a place to foster empowerment through encouragement and education.

During weather-permitting months, SDUIH offers a weekly walking group. Participants should meet at SDUIH Downtown, where they will be guided by the walk leader to the Bike Trails for the walking route. The walking route is roughly one mile. Following the walk, we invite members to return to our downtown space for a healthy snack. This group is offered at various times of the year and is open to all fitness levels.

Positive Indian Parenting (PIP) is an 8-week parenting training class for Indigenous parents, caregivers, non-Native foster parents of Indigenous children, and others who strive to be more positive in their approach to parenting. PIP offers participants a structured exploration of traditional American Indian and Alaska Native values concerning parenting and helps participants apply those values in a modern setting.

Join our women’s resiliency group to share and rebuild. The group will focus on building coping skills and resilience, covering depression, anxiety, trauma, and healthy relationships. All winyans (women) are welcome, regardless of tribal affiliation or race.
