South Dakota Urban Indian Health (SDUIH) offers Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Counseling services in the Sioux Falls and Pierre Clinics. We work with all ages; children, adolescents and adults. Our Tiospaye’ Program provides holistic quality care which addresses the needs of our patients/clients through 4-traditional components: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
South Dakota Urban Indian Health (SDUIH) believes mental health issues are treatable and our staff can assist in your recovery and management of mental health symptoms. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to care, meaning your care team will communicate and consult with each other to provide you with the best care possible. SDUIH care team members may include a: Counselor, Medical Provider, Care Manager, Dietician, Activities Coordinator, and consulting staff that may include a Psychologist and Psychiatrist.
Mental Health services are provided by Master's level counselors and include individual, couple, family, and group counseling sessions. Fees for services are income based. Medicaid and most insurances are accepted. Some funding may be available for co-occurring disorders.

South Dakota Urban Indian Health (SDUIH) believes that Substance Use Disorders are treatable and that recovery is possible. We provide initial assessments, individual counseling, and referrals to agencies providing higher levels of care such as Intensive Outpatient and Inpatient Treatment. Our Substance Use Disorder counselors are all Licensed or Certified by the State of South Dakota and SDUIH is a state accredited program that provides holistic quality services. Our Substance Use Disorder services are income based and there may be funding available.
South Dakota Urban Indian Health (SDUIH) provides a weekly Traditional Therapeutic Arts and Crafts in Sioux Falls on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m, as well as other activities. Pierre offers Talking Circles based on need.
SDUIH provides traditional medicines to patients/clients and other community members such as sage, sweetgrass, and bitterroot.
