COVID services available

Vaccines

The COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States are are highly effective at preventing severe disease and death, and are an important tool to slow the spread of the virus. Both clinics offer no-cost COVID-19 vaccines. Type of vaccine available may vary–call to make an appointment.

Per CDC and IHS guidance, we are offering a second booster shot to individuals who: 
-Are aged 50 years and older at least 4 months after receipt of a first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.
-Are immunocompromised and 18 and over and at least four months after receiving a first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.
-Are adults who received a primary dose of Johnson & Johnson Janssen COVID-19 vaccine at least four months ago, may now receive a second booster dose of either Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Tests

PCR COVID tests are available by appointment. SDUIH also has take-home COVID tests available upon request.

  • The price of a COVID-19 test at South Dakota Urban Indian Health Inc, SDUIH is $140 (inclusive of supplies, lab equipment and staff time to run the test). COVID-19 tests are covered by insurance and uninsured patient testing will be covered through CARES Act funding. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to confirm coverage.
  • You can call the number on the back of your insurance card to confirm. If you do not have insurance and are concerned about paying for the test, you can ask us about programs that help with the cost.
  • For self-pay, there will not be a bill right away. We will seek reimbursement from any applicable government programs which may provide coverage for the test. You may receive a bill should government funding not cover the cost of the testing.

Masks

The CDC recommends individuals in areas of substantial spread wear a mask in indoor public settings. SDUIH has surgical masks, KN95 masks and N95 masks available to the community at no charge.
